JACOB MARLEY'S COSTUME
PRODUCTION - A CHRISTMAS CAROL
COSTUME DESIGNER - ROSIE BERRY
PROP MAKER - ABI STUSHNOFF
DIRECTOR - SEAN LINNEN
Jacob Marley's costume was constructed using traditional bespoke tailoring methods with a twist of costume magic. Due to the actor playing multiple roles, they had a very short amount of time to change into Marley's costume, because of this, only the front half of the waistcoat was constructed and that was attached to the inside of the jacket - creating the illusion of a three piece suit. The trousers were also made with an elasticated waist with decorative fastenings, to make the quick change even quicker.
Here are some short burst videos of Kate and the costume during the construction process.
The designer of this production was following an recycling theme - trying to keep costs low while also staying conscious about the environment. A set of blackout curtain were donated towards the production, which just happened to be the perfect fit for Marley's costume. Other material were used for the construction of this costume, including body canvas, chest canvas, dimmet, collar canvas, melton, basting thread and spray paint.
