THE PRINCESS COSTUME
Short video burst of Kate constructing the costume.
Kate was requested to make a bias cut jumpsuit for a production of The Richard Burton's Company's opera of Sleeping Beauty. Kate used the draping method to create the pattern, perfecting the measurements and silhouettes with toiles and fittings before moving on and constructing the garment in the final fabrics.
Short video burst of Kate constructing the costume.
When constructing this garment, Kate decided to use the draping method to create the pattern. This was the best method to use to see how the fabric stretched over time due to the natural force of gravity. Kate hand washed the dress and let it dry naturally overnight while hanging before completing the hemline.
